Starlink Recessed Data Socket - IP68 Integration for Caravan, RV & Large Vehicles

The Spacetek Recessed Data Socket range provides a clean, weather-resistant interface for routing Starlink data or power connections through caravan, RV, and vehicle wall panels. Designed as a low-profile, near-flush solution, the system reduces external cable exposure while maintaining serviceability and secure connector retention.

Each recessed socket is engineered for panel-mounted installation and is intended as a non-structural networking or power interface. The housing geometry allows the connector to sit partially recessed into the wall cavity, improving aesthetics and reducing snag risk compared to surface-mounted fittings.

The modular design allows customers to configure the socket based on Starlink device (Gen 3, Mini or standard RJ45) type, external face shape, and mounting method

⚠️ This product is not a structural mount and must not be used to support cable load, strain, or external forces.

What does the Recessed Data Socket do?

The recessed socket acts as a pass-through interface between the external environment and the internal cable run:

  • Provides a sealed IP68 external connection point

  • Protects the connector from direct exposure

  • Allows clean cable routing through wall panels

  • Reduces clutter and protrusion compared to surface plates

Depending on the selected device family, the socket will either terminate a standard RJ45 data connection or a Starlink Mini DC power connector

⚠️ Please Note on Device Family Selection : ⚠️

The Gen 3 version is not intended to work with standard RJ45 CAT5E or CAT6A network cables that have a locking clip, as you won't be able to unclip the cable due to the waterproof gland on the Gen 3 fitting.  If you are not using a Gen 3 system/cable, please choose "Universal RJ45" as your device family in the options.

Device Specific Overview

Universal RJ45 (Gen 2 & Others)

  • Ethernet pass-through design

  • Compatible with Starlink Gen 2 (via modified SPX cable) and standard RJ45 cabling

  • Suitable for data-only applications

Starlink Gen 3 (Only)

  • RJ45 recessed socket sized and water gland protected for Gen 3 cable

  • Designed to maintain connector alignment and retention

  • Intended for Gen 3-specific cable systems

Starlink Mini (Only)

  • DC power socket for Starlink Mini systems

  • Provides a sealed, near-flush power entry point

  • Not compatible with RJ45 data connections

⚠️ Interchangability and Upgrades: ⚠️

Device families are interchangable by purchasing the different Bulkhead Sockets from our website. Each bulkhead socket is compatible with the wall and backing plates.

Options for upgrades as follows:
Starlink Mini DC Cable Bulkhead Socket
Starlink Gen 3 Cable Bulkhead Socket
Universal RJ45 Cable Bulkhead Socket

Backing Plate vs No Backing Plate

With Backing Plate

  • Two-sided clamping installation

  • Improved rigidity on thinner panels

  • Recommended where rear access is available

No Backing Plate

  • External-only fixing method

  • Reduced internal depth requirement

  • Suitable for tight cavities or limited rear access

Both options provide equivalent external sealing when installed correctly.

Shape Selection

  • Square variants align with modular accessory panels and straight-edge cut-outs

  • Round variants suit traditional hole-saw cut-outs and curved panel surfaces

Shape selection does not affect sealing, compatibility, or electrical performance.

Installation Consdierations

These recessed sockets are designed for vehicle installations. They are suitable for exterior walls, service panels, and equipment compartments when correctly sealed.

⚠️ Cable routing must include appropriate strain relief on the internal side of the panel.
⚠️ Electrical and data routing must comply with applicable vehicle and safety standards.
